I bet everyone knows that Halloween/All Saints' Day/All Hallows' Day is coming soon. It falls on 31st Oct every year and is celebrated by Christians all over the world. On this day people wear costumes of all types. It can be vampires, witches, werewolves and so on. Pumpkin is an important symbol during this celebration. What's more? It's non other than Children's favourite ---- Trick Or Treat~ ^ ^
However, our country does not celebrate this day. How sad. =(
In spite of Halloween, do you guys ever heard of All Souls' Day?
It is another Christian Holy Day that falls on Nov 2 every year, which is after Halloween. I do not celebrate Halloween but this one yes. That's the reason why I post about this. =)
FYI, All Souls' Day is a day where Christians pray in memory of their ancestors or loved ones who have died. Praying for souls helps to remove the stain of sin, and allow the souls to enter the gates of heaven. All Souls' Day is also known as the "Day of the Dead".
On this day Christians will go to the cemetery and mourn for their lost ones. They show their respect and honour in remembrance of them. Actually it's the same like Chinese's 清明节.
And this is where I go every year. Miri Catholic Cemetery(below). This year it falls on Tuesday and my family make it earlier cos we can't go on weekdays so that will be tomorrow. Saturday. Both my grandparents had passed away when I was in Primary school. It always feels like ages whenever I go there as it's only once a year trip.
Usually what we need to get ready before prayers are
#1 Two bouquets of flowers
(one for grandfather & one for grandmother)
and last but not least
#3 Love from our heart
shhhh and start praying~ xD
so I will be off to Miri tomorrow morning. Hope everything will be okay especially the weather. And oh ya...hope I can meet up with an NS friend to get CDs from her. Cos the time will be rushing~ > <
